What kind of taxes do I pay when selling a co-owned vacation home?

inlaws would not let them buy them out. State sold a vacation home we have co-owned with them since 2000 (mother in law signed it over to the three children). It was sold for less than the appraised value at the time of her death 2 years ago. State lawyers ate up another $9,000.
